Gilets jaunes

The protests started out reasonably enough, people were getting annoyed at the rise in fuel prices (and it should be noted that this is hitting diesel users harder as they have always known a favourable tariff on their fuel that no longer exists - as I put SP98 in my car, the shameful price rises are actually no big deal for me, the current prices are more or less where they've always been).

Then the malaise of the yellow jackets (or vests) turned a bit stupid. A guy on the radio last week bemoaning the fact that he gets his pay and he pays for this and for that and for everything else so by the end he has nothing left for himself.
You, me, and every-bloody-one else. Us little people, our pay is not a lot. Stuff is expensive (I pay nearly a tenth of my salary on internet/mobile because it's extremely expensive, I pay nearly that much again in taxes, then there's the petrol...), you know, it all adds up. I play the lottery each week because that's probably the only way I'm ever going to go to Japan. Or Canada. Or Finland. (my three places I'd like to visit) I use a RaspberryPi and this computer, an old PC running XP that I got in a boot sale. And people call me stupid for having an expensive mobile contract to get a Samsung S7, yet the non-phone version is only about €20/month cheaper plus there is absolutely no way in hell I could ever justify some six hundred euros (average price at the time) on a phone. It's a lovely phone, but it's more than a washing machine and fridge added together. Both of which are more a necessity in life than a piece of shiny tech. Spread over two years, it's manageable. I've not been to the point of having to decide whether to eat or to pay bills, but then that's because I don't gamble (other than the lottery ticket), I don't drink or smoke, and I refuse to have credit cards. I don't even take offers of things like "buy now pay in 2019". Don't you think I'd love to blow a hundred or two on Playmobil? But starting "credit" is to sign up to a future downfall. The answer is, simply, to know what is affordable, and stick to those limits. Because that's how millions of people live. I do without so once in a while I can treat myself to something. It's not a hard choice to make, it's a logical one. I can't eat sirloin every night (not that I'd want to), I don't dine in Michelin star restaurants (not that I'd want to), and I don't toddle off in the winter for a cruise someplace sunny (not that I'd want to). Because I don't have that kind of money. It's just plain simple reality. So complaining that "there's nothing left", yeah. That's life. I bust my balls for Orange, for the tax man, and for other stuff. Because that's just how it is. Do you see me about to go out and riot over it? For God's sake...

And now, this week...

That was Marianne.
And that was when it was clear to everybody that the Gilets Jaunes movement is dead, having been replaced by a bunch of violent nutjobs that just want to smash stuff up. Who just want to have an excuse to set things on fire and fight the police, over some perceived injustices.
Well, here's an idea. How about all those people who were arrested, and those who will be - those who are not French are deported, and those who are get sent to the sorts of prisons where smashing up rocks is a part of daily life. Because these people are not improving France, they aren't trying to get their voices heard. By smashing up Marianne, it's an affront on the very symbol of modern France, the notion of what France is, and they should all be very fucking ashamed of themselves.

And just so there's no ambiguity here... pour eviter le risque de l'ambiguïté ici...

It appears as government spending has risen they have done less and less. Can't be true. As to making the planet great again, well if not you, then who.
