THOUGHTS

(My so-called life)

My brain...

18th May 1998

Talking in a newsgroup about mousing with your other arm:

> I could get the wires in the mouse changed over, Hahahaha! This is Acorn. There is always a patch for something or other. :-)

Swapping wires? That's for Unix folk that can't find the right setup file to tweak. :-)

Seriously, I tried a patch "RevMouse" to see if I'd like using the mouse as a leftie. It was alien to me and I never got the hang of it. Yet I can (sorta [1]) mouse right handed with little problem. The action key is just 'expected' to be on the left...

[1] My co-ordination goes to hell [2] when mousing with my right arm. If I'm not paying attention, my movements are reversed and, well, my flight sim plane crashes.

[2] Not that my co-ordination is anything to brag about. I think my brain resembles an early 80's homebuilt computer. Lots of same-coloured wires going to various places they maybe shouldn't, a motherboard eight levels deep in hardware patch upon hardware patch, ICs with legs bent up and tracks cut and bridged with bits of fuse wire, and a seriously underspecified power supply unit. It works, by damn, it works. By every so often there is a spark and a brief burning smell and the thing stiffs, awaiting a reboot.
