Vindicated...
Vindicated...
Vindicated...
Some, who shall remain unnamed, don't think much of my abilities as a
'fiddler' (get your dirty mind back on track - I'm talking about
hardware!).
It isn't ethical to realign a floppy drive using only a screwdriver... Or it
just isn't right to swap harddiscs and monitors around like they were plugs.
Some people have no concept of the fact that you do not need a degree
and thousands of pounds of test equipment in order to 'fiddle' with some
piece of hardware.
Tonight, in the privacy of my bedroom, I have been vindicated.
My betamax tape loading mechanism broke. So I hook out the platter which contains the loading mechanism, the heads and the drive reels (see picture) and swapped it for one from another betamax. This other one required a realignment and not to mention the many many wires that had to be connected and the mechanics and mechanisms that had to be hooked up correctly.

On the left (or top), the platter. On the right (or
bottom), a close-up of the video mechanics...
It took just over an hour. And it worked correctly first time, giving me the high quality picture I have come to expect....to demand....from Betamax. All operational in time to record Sliders.
I used only a jewellers screwdriver and a small set of pliers (also in the picture).
Vindicated. And anybody who doesn't like those that 'fiddle' with hardware may take the broken mechanism and shove it right up their............

A mechanical something or other...
